Mission Cafe’

I just got back from a great lunch at The Mission Cafe.  If you haven’t ever eaten there, I would highly recommend it.  I had the Indo Chine Happiness Bowl (rice, zucchini, carrots, chicken, cilantro all with a nice peanut sauce).  Good eats right in the neighborhood.

Spectrum Growth

This last Sunday I had an opportunity to talk about the way in which we grow.  If you weren’t there, I would suggest you take a listen to the podcast here.  (if it isnt up yet, it will be shortly).  Here is a post I just wrote for www.savethechurchsavetheworld.com:
As we begin to shift our growth [...]

Hammerhead… The Coffee

I am back at Filter this morning, and noticed an interesting choice on the coffee menu, the “Hammerhead.” In honor of one of my good friends who’s nickname is “Hammerhead,” I ordered the coffee. Its good, rich, full and definately fitting of a coffee named “Hammerhead.” You can read the true Hammerhead’s [...]

I really dig this place.  My friend James mentioned to me last week that I might like the [...]

“Growing Missionally”

So this weekend I am preaching on “growing missionally.” So I thought it’d be cool to hear what others are thinking on this issue.
What does that term mean to you?
How do you live that out?
How do we change our view of church growth from numerical to exponential?
How is your growth going?

Outcasts: A Response #3

Another post from theooze thread:
Thanks for the convo. I can understand the legal side of the argument completely. Civil Unions function just like a “marriage.” My point isnt about the function of the law, nor is it about the way the law interprets people.
My contention is more about the equity of belief / perception. Drinking [...]

Outcasts: A Response #2

This conversation really stems from a much larger question: “Is homosexuality a sin?” To answer that, I believe you must first decide whether or not a person that is gay has “chosen” to be gay.
For me, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no “choice” in the matter. I have [...]

Outcasts: A Response

There has been a lot of challenge lately for me to address my thoughts and feelings on a few key issues. I truly appreciate the comments and emails, but I dont ever want to speak without really having a chance to process through my true feelings.
California Gay Marriage Ban
I realize that my thoughts on [...]

Prince Caspian Review

So I went to the late showing of the opening of “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” last night and was thoroughly disappointed. So here is my review:
Positive: Great special effects work. Great set work. The environments that Andrew Adamson created were truly stunning. I especially like the ruins scene [...]
